Manage delivery of Insight data and analysis activity supporting various markets within International as part of an Insight Team tasked with embedding the voice of the music consumer into the culture of Sony Music internationally. 


Deliver creative and compelling insight tools for internal stakeholders (e.g. Marketing, Planning, Sales, Brand Partnerships and Business Development) across multiple territories with the aim of supporting senior level business decision making on marketing campaigns for artists


Build strong internal partner relationships for Insight with Executive stakeholders and leadership teams across multiple Sony Music territories.


  • Manage the design and delivery of research projects (principally SME’s proprietary segmentation) on consumer behaviour and the provision of tools to support and improve tactical and strategic decision making within Sony Music operating companies.
  • Provide expert advice on the use of Sony Music’s insight tools (principally segmentation, online communities, internal insight portal) and its’ planning process.
  • Support the Planning and local marketing teams by delivering rich artist insight into the Artist brand positioning processes.
  • Deliver insight work into music audience behaviour to creative internal stakeholders in innovative and engaging ways without a need for them to have significant prior understanding of research terms.
  • Extend use of insight to work more broadly within the business supporting Brand Partnerships for pitching activity and in the development of play-listing on digital streaming services.
  • Use broad understanding the role of insight alongside in-depth market knowledge and understanding of the company’s strategic objectives to engage and advise executive and leadership teams across the business.

Person Specifications


  • Significant experience delivering consumer research ideally demonstrated within media or a creative agency.
  • Line management of junior analytics or research staff to manage workload across multiple operating companies within an international business.
  • Significant experience using statistical analysis packages
  • Broad understanding of the global music market
  • Expert knowledge of research into consumer behaviour and its creative and commercial applications
  • Experience with SPSS or SAS
  • Passionate following of digital and marketing trends.
  • Creative thinker able to translate ideas and communicate them effectively across a broad stakeholder group
  • Curious-minded and driven to broaden skills and knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated within ability to build effective senior level working relationships across multiple cultures
  • Passion for music
