    This industry internship is a rare opportunity to get an in depth understanding of the Global Business Development & Digital Strategy team within Sony Music as well as an overall insight into the way in which a global business unit of a major entertainment player works on a day to day basis. The BD&DS team is responsible for negotiating commercial agreements with global and regional digital partners, for supporting and giving guidance to local operating companies negotiating local agreements, and for pro-actively contributing to, regularly reviewing and articulating the digital business strategy.

    The Intern will be responsible for administration and coordination within the BD&DS team, as well as for ad hoc projects including researching markets and business opportunities, documenting and benchmarking commercial agreements, and conducting in depth business analysis. They will establish themselves as a point of contact for any queries relating to these areas by forging strong relationships across the business and with external contacts.

    They will need to accurately and efficiently manage a busy workload with conflicting priorities.

    To provide analytical and administrative support to a team of global business development managers, based in the UK, and to coordinate on going and ad hoc projects with the global Business and Legal Affairs team, based in London, and with the NYC-based business development team.


    Duties include:

    • Running deal and business analysis from large set of data, pulling and presenting insights to instruct deal negotiations
    • Compiling, updating and sharing key commercial parameters for benchmarking purpose
    • Updating deal pipeline and circulating status update on a weekly basis
    • Preparing and participating in business reviews and development activities with key partners, taking minutes and isolating action points in department meetings and international conference calls
    • Researching and monitoring the digital marketplace to identify new revenue opportunities
    • Gathering information from local operating companies and sharing learnings regularly and effectively
    • Initiating contact, establish relationships and assessing potential business opportunities with target partners

    Person Specifications


    • Business analysis, business development and/or sales experience in a busy environment
    • Music and digital media interest
    • Business related degree 
    • Fluent in English
    • Strong analytical, numeracy and computing skills, especially Excel and Powerpoint
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Highly organised, able to plan activities, to carry them through effectively and to work to deadlines while remaining calm under pressure.
    • Gather information systematically to establish facts
    • Make things happen and constantly look for better ways of doing things
    • Ability to prioritise workload, goals, targets and time, and to work independently.
    • Team player with strong integrity who can be relied upon to participate as needed during busy periods.
