  • Overview

    Ministry of Sound are looking for a fantastic new Head of Marketing to join the team! 

    This role will be responsible for managing the marketing team to develop a strategy for Ministry of Sound Records, which encoroprates the Records, Compliations and Playlisting businesses. This must be driven by strategic planning on a campaign by campaign basis and be founded in audience insight, creativity and innovation.

    The role will also oversee all activitiy with promotional external pluggers, agencies, suppliers, and will manage working with internal teams across A&R, Digital team, Strategists, Finance, 4th Floor Creative and the wider Sony businesss to devise the strategic planning of allocated roster.

    Responsibilities

    The key responsibilities of this role will be to manage & direct the development of imaginative, commercial and effective marketing campaigns from the marketing team, ensuring that all the needs and input of relevant parties have been taken into account – incorporating all aspects of physical, digital, direct marketing, print etc.

     

    The role will be working with the US labels on US based artists to ensure maximum effectiveness of UK releases.

     

    You will manage the marketing team to ensure they are productive, creative and effective within their roles. This requires reviews, objective setting, developing training programmes, regular feedback and being actively involved in challenging their campaigns etc.

     

    You are to be aware of the Company’s turnover and P&L targets and be aware of how the individual P&Ls feed into this.

     

    The role will supervise and control all budgets inline with what has been agreed with Finance in forecasting meetings and ensure that team T&E budgets are strictly adhered to. This will include maximising the development and sales potential of any artists under the team’s remit and to guide all Compliations and Playlist ideas, creative assets and surrounding marketing assets within budget.

     

    You will run a 1-2 of the flag ship Marketing Campaigns for Records and collaborate and work alongside the Head of Digital to deliver forward thinking innovative campaigns with your teams.

     

    The role will liaise with sales and digital strategist to set sell-in targets on singles, albums and compilation but also to anyalise chart, data and information to ensure Ministry of Sound are maximising the potential of a release.

     

     You must be established as an expert on the marketing activities on the team as the role builds and maintains relationships both internally and externally and be the point of contact for Artists and Artist Managers, ensuring that a positive and trusting relationship is maintained.

     

    It is key to maintain the high creative standard expected from all Ministry of Sound releases and assets.

     

    You will work alongside BA to ensure a legal requirements are adhered too across contracts, creative or any liscence / thirdparty deal.

     

    You must constantly be aware of changes in the market, with particular emphasis on the industry, competitors, innovation, new formats and campaigns and have awareness of trends and opportunities that provides us with the chance to deliver new playlist concepts, compliations and creatives.

     

    The role ensures ‘best practise’ in all aspects of campaign execution; Media, digital/social media, video content curation, creative materials etc and will always be a positive ambassador of Ministry of Sound, including attending gigs, spreading the word and generally maximising marketing opportunities wherever possible.

     

    Person Specifications

    Type of Experience

    You must have extensive experience in Music Marketing and measurable success in delivering marketing campaigns for new and/or established acts in UK market (either International or UK roster).  Significant Frontline label/ product marketing experience is also key, currently at senior manager level or manager level with a view to step up.

     

    Skills

    You must have experience and show demonstrable skills in people management in order to support the marketing team here at Ministry. 

    Creative and strategic thinking is key, with persuasive and confident communication skills, as well as managing your priorities and organising your time effectively.

     

    Characteristics

    Ministry of Sound is a dynamic and fast paced environment, so being able to adapt and react to change is vital. 

    Your attitude must be diplomatic to manage the numerous stakeholders, and you will have a directional approach with strong decision making abilities. We need you to take initiative and capitalise on opportunity.

     

    It is preferred that you have an interest in dance music.
